Stunning Land Art Installations
When you look at land art installations, then you would think that is some new fangled idea that artists have come up with. There is some truth to this but it is not completely true because we can see some traces of land art installations in the times past in many ancient cultures. It is just that today these art installations on land which is outdoors, have benefited quite a bit from the technological improvements that have taken place in today’s modern world. It can almost be compared to amazing garden ideas for you to consider.
Using the land and the natural or installed features on the land to create works of art is a great way of expressing your inner artist. This has many advantages as well as some downside.
The Advantages Include:
Larger area to demonstrate your art: Every artist wishes for a canvas or medium that takes his or her creativity, magnifies and show it in the best way possible. This is something that land art installations do with a good measure.
Added beauty of natural features: There is so much beauty in nature and this beauty tends to enhance the works of art you have done on the bit of land. Like for instance, your work with arts with rocks would be enhanced with the growth of wildflowers and weeds and other greenery around it.
Your art changes as per seasons: When the weather changes, so will the land installation art you have done. Each of the features of your art will be modified; some in ways you may have anticipated and some unexpected ways.
The downsides could include:
When you move, you have to leave the art behind: This kind of art is installed on the land and by definition you cannot remove it from the land. If you are going away somewhere, you will have to leave it behind which can be heart wrenching for an artist.
The art is better viewed from a height: These type of arts are better viewed from above and one may not appreciate the true beauty of it when seen from a flatter perspective. This could be one of the reasons that many people like to have such works of art on a smaller basis.
It could get spoiled due to many reasons: Since this art is based outside, the chances that it gets spoiled due to many reasons is more. For instance, even an out of control vehicle or flying debris could spoil it.
We are sure in spite of the downsides and for reasons beyond the advantages we have stated here, artists would still be inspired to do such work. That is because such doing such art projects can provide you with much satisfaction in terms of artistic fulfillment. What do you think of land art installations? Do you think they are stunning or do you think that the artist would be better off doing some other kind of art?
